Director’s Message
Special thanks for the support by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, I am delighted to be the Director of the HKU JC Nursing Leadership Development Fellowship Programme (NLD programme). With an aim to enhance the skills and capabilities of nursing fellows in Hong Kong, our team is initiating a voyage to cultivate a new generation of promising nursing leaders, hoping for them to become agents of change in the healthcare sector.
The NLD programme is featuring a professional core teaching team and project team striving for an excellence in close collaboration with our key stakeholders such as the Hospital Authority, Department of Health, District Health Centre, District Health Centre Express, and Private Hospitals under The Hong Kong Private Hospitals Association. By maximizing the expertise and resources of these partners, we are creating a comprehensive training framework and community of practice to nourish our nursing leaders so as to addresses the growing needs of healthcare delivery in our community.
Our innovative teaching and learning components are comprised of a series of activities, and among other things, courses, seminars, workshops, distinguished leadership lectures, thematic teaching and learning days, visits, presentations, annual symposium, leadership summit etc. On the strength of the integration of the HKU local training programmes and the overseas intensive leadership trainings, our goal is to empower nursing fellows with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles. By nurturing their leadership development potential through our tailor-made trainings and mentorship opportunities, both locally and internationally, it is anticipated that the quality of primary healthcare services will be optimized, benefiting not only the local community but also positively impacting healthcare systems globally.
I am also thrilled to announce that our proposal for the Postgraduate Certificate in Healthcare Leadership and Management (PCHLM), integrated with this programme, has been successfully approved by the Council of the University of Hong Kong. The PCHLM programme, made possible by the generous support of the HKU JC Nursing Leadership Development Fellowship, The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, reflects our commitment to advancing leadership in healthcare. In a word, I am certain that by fostering knowledge exchange and facilitating professional development among nursing fellows and healthcare leaders, our nursing fellows can achieve our desired goal of “Stand Higher, See Further”.
