Under Professor Sophia Chan’s leadership, students of the 2nd Nursing Leadership Fellowship Programme visited Hong Kong’s Government Chinese Medicines Testing Institute. The visit aimed to deepen understanding of Chinese medicine’s development and its scientific foundations in standards, testing, and quality control.
Students learned about the Institute’s mission to establish internationally recognised reference standards, toured specimen and testing facilities, and traced key milestones from 2015 to the 2025 permanent building completion.
The experience reinforced that standardisation and testing innovation are vital for integrating Chinese and Western medicine. Students are encouraged to apply evidence-based, patient-centred approaches in their future clinical and community practice.
