Biography

Dr Kevin Luk is a registered nurse and Assistant Professor at Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies, National University of Singapore (NUS). Before joining NUS, he worked at the School of Nursing at the University of Hong Kong, where he earned his bachelor’s and PhD degrees. He was also appointed as a visiting professor at Dalla Lana School of Public Health, The University of Toronto. 

Dr Luk’s research focuses on devising, testing, and implementing scalable and sustainable interventions to address lifestyle risk factors, especially tobacco use. He has published over 50 articles in international, peer-reviewed journals, including in Lancet Digital Health, JAMA Internal Medicine and JAMA Network Open as a lead author. His doctoral study on using mobile instant messaging apps to deliver chat-based support has laid the groundwork for similar treatment models targeting tobacco use and other lifestyle risks. His research has also influenced smoking cessation practices and tobacco control legislation in Hong Kong. His expertise is recognised by his appointment as Associate Editor for Nicotine & Tobacco Research. 

Currently, Dr Luk is leading four competitive external grants for evaluating advanced digital health interventions for tobacco cessation, gestational diabetes prevention, and alcohol reduction in liver patients.
